OLIVE CHEESE PUFFS
INGREDIENTS:
2 Cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
½ Cup softened butter/margarine/oleo
1 Cup sifted all purpose flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp paprika
(48?)stuffed olives
DIRECTIONS
Blend all but olives. Wrap approximately 1 tsp around an olive to completely cover then roll between palms to make a ball shape.
Put on a flat surface (cookie sheet) and freeze firm. Divide into plastic bags and return to freezer.
Bake frozen 15 minutes at 400º F
NOTES
Be sure to bake these completely frozen. (If allowed to thaw before baking they'll flatten out, baked frozen they retain their ball shape.) My mother made these all the time, usually doubling or tripling the recipe so there were always some in the freezer. That usually worked until her kids learned how to use the oven. :-)
I've always had them with pimento stuffed olives, but one of these days I'm going to get garlic stuffed olives and try that. Everyone likes these, you really can't make too many.
Use caution when removed from the oven. They will be easy to handle, but the olives will be very hot!
